Very entertaining post Randy! Maybe we should start a new topic- STRANGEST GIGS !
I think your 2 would be the tops though.
People with lots of money get weeeeeeeeeeirrrrrrrrrrddddddd (a lot of the time). Especially at social events. I see it all the time in N.Y.C.
One time in Boston I had a wedding gig and one of the groomsmen came over to the band 2x and yelled at us for playing too loud. The second time he came over the electric bassist wasn't even plugged in! I was on brushes the whole night! I think he was picking on us because we were so young looking.
Another time was in a nice restaurant on Madison ave. I hired Chris Cheek (sax for Paul Motian and the best kept secret). The manager kept on asking me to turn the sax down.
Chris can play softer than anyone I've ever heard and he was barely getting air through his horn. Then on the break, the manager turned on the house music and it was twice as loud.
I won't even get into what I see at these parties. My soul takes a beating on some of these gigs.

An elephant and an helicopter on a golf green...In terms of weirdness, that is hard to beat.
Cool weird gigs guys! Could be an endless topic. I did my share of them...
Like my first paying gig. I was 18 and in a prog band. That summer we decided to learn a top-40 repertoire to play clubs and make some money. On our 1st date, we ended up being booked for 3 weeks in the middle of nowhere...in a strip joint. We had to play for the strippers... Customers could'nt care less about us and the strippers were often quite busy off-stage doing booth duty or extras in the rooms upstairs. After our 1st night we were devastated. Half the band wanted to split but we told ourselves that at least we were playing and the money was ok. Also we could'nt sleep, because, well you know...rooms with cardboard walls and showgirls doing overtime... We knew somebody who had a cottage at an-hour drive and ended up staying there. On one night, to make me a surprise, my parents did the distance and showed up... The surprise was for them! I don't think they were that proud of their son. At one point, noticing that nobody cared, we switched to our prog repertoire. They liked it! One of the girls even did some choregraphy on Aqualung and she was paying us lots of drinks. On our last night she came to us, almost crying, so sad we were leaving. She hung us and shook hands telling we gave her some reason to live cause she had...AIDS...Man she touched me!, I said (remember, it was in the 80's and we didn't really know how it was contracted). We felt bad for her customers...but we quickly packed and went away...

I was told the bash she had at a local strip club was MUCH more raunchy. BTW, Jenna has a s*** load of tattoos that I have never seen, big one on the back of her neck.

Randy,
PLEASE tell me you didn't really play Jamison's gig. I'm officially starting to get jealous. Did you really? Seriously?
